by skilled craftsmanship: The forging of an axeblade is done by hand at 1000 °C and the heavy forgehammer hits with a frequency of 200 per minute. So, the material gets its density which increases the toughness and firmness of the axeblade. The thin axeblade is formed by special forging. The next step, hardening, is very important for the quality of the tools as well. Top quality is achieved by warming up the tools, "shocking" in a tempering oil bath and refining in a "start-up-furnace". A good cutting edge half the job is one of our principles. The tool gets its best cutting edge on a whetstone; and then the axe is ground on a big 2 m-diameter slow-moving grindstone watercooled. Special cutting ability and durability is guaranteed. To prevent the axe from becoming prematurely blunt the cutting edge is rounded off. After varnishing, the axe needs a mountain ash or hickory handle which is safety-wedged in and is then ready for dispatch. After the axe has been through all the steps of its "birth" which takes extreme skills talent and precision of its "creators" it is no problem for L. Mueller guarantee of every tool. |
